Description
The Global Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing ADDORE: Alzheimers disease-Down syndrome Outreach, Recruitment and Education activities. This individual will be responsible for developing outreach and research recruitment strategies to enhance enrollment of minority and under-represented communities in the ABC-DS project, a five-year, NIH-funded multi-million dollar study that has eight performance sites in the United States and United Kingdom. The candidate will oversee research recruitment efforts across all sites and develop strong relationships with under-represented communities, develop a project website and social media presence for the project, and create educational and recruitment materials for use by all the performance sites.
This position is grant funded.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and attend conferences on Down syndrome and Alzheimers disease for recruitment opportunities
- Attend outreach events in underrepresented communities to create relationships within those communities
- Develop & implement a written marketing plan for the program as well as culturally sensitive materials vetted by the community to be used on project websites, social media, flyers and brochures
- Facilitate the recruitment and participation of individuals with DS for a minimum of 8 performance sites as well as adult siblings of individuals with DS.
- Oversee and coordinate with staff working on recruitment for our studies at other facilities. Ensure staff follow proper recruitment procedures.
- Create focus groups (in person and virtual) in the DS community and in underrepresented communities
- Develop personal relationships with referral sources, serve as a liaison between them and the research project, and actively facilitate ongoing referrals.
- Work with PI to develop registry program to increase recruitment
- Attend multiple studies lab meetings and report on recruitment for said studies.
- Taking inquiry phone calls and emails from potential participants and sending out information packets.
- Retrieving recruitment calls/emails to forward to appropriate personnel and/or to distribute recruitment materials.
- Tracking participants through the screening process and reporting that information in weekly staff meetings.
- Work with Investigators, data management, and research staff to collect information for progress reports for NIH grants.
- Available to work evenings and/or weekends as needed.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision once trained.
- Perform other duties as related to the research project as requested by the Principle Investigator, coordinator, and/or supervisor.
- Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or higher required in Social Services, Communications/Marketing and/ or Public Relations areas.
- Experience in working with historically disadvantaged communities strongly preferred, experience in research or an equivalent area highly preferred.
- Public speaking experience required.
- Website and social media development experience strongly preferred. Good social skills required.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Act 33/34 Certifications and other certifications as required
