Are you a Licensed Practical Nurse in the Mechanicsburg area? UPMC Cardiovascular Institute is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for their Mechanicsburg office. We have 8 exam rooms and 2 procedure rooms. The staff functions as one team & are family oriented. There will be 3 clinical staff for rooming patients, with 2 RNs as backup. The LPN provides professional nursing care to office patients under supervision of patient care providers.

HOURS: Mon-Fri office is open from 7am-4:30pm. Hours will vary between those hours. NO weekends, NO holidays, NO on-call

Responsibilities:

  • Room patients; assess patient's general condition, take vital signs, weight, and updated medication list
  • Triage patient phone calls and schedule with physicians as needed
  • Prepare charts for the next day's appointments
  • Assist physicians and advanced practice providers with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments.
  • Complete suture removal, staple removal, etc as needed by providers
  • Document all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record.
  • Promote wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions.
  • Draw blood.
  • Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).
  • Administer medications including oral, SQ, IM and IV drip.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures.
  • Perform IV therapy under direction of Registered Nurse.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.

 

Qualifications

Graduate of an approved LPN school of nursing.

One-year clinical experience preferred, but not required.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
 

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) OR Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Act 34 with renewal
