Description
Purpose:
Responsible for the cleaning and sterilization of Respiratory Care equipment after use. Responsible for the preparation and inspection of equipment as outlined in the Respiratory Care Department standard operating procedures and is expected to follow these procedures when performing duties. Maintains adequate level of supplies following established inventory levels. Assures Respiratory Care equipment is kept in good working order.
Responsibilities:
- Reviews finance sheets to check on accuracy of items being charged.
- Meets with sales representatives to review and assess new equipment and assure the best possible pricing for the Department.
- Works on projects to try cut costs and enhance the efficiency of the Department. Final project approval is required from Administrative Director.
- Restocks Department supply cabinets following established inventory levels.Effectively employs available equipment and supplies giving due care to their use and maintenance.
- Maintains working knowledge of Department procedure manuals. Participates in in-service programs to improve job performance. Sets up in-services for the Department and other Hospital staff to review new equipment. Employee complies with established occupational exposure policies.
- Demonstrates knowledge and ability to adapt to clinical treatment and instructional aspects of care to all stages of the life cycle and to various states of health and disease.
- Prepares and maintains required reports and patient records.
- Cleans and sterilizes respiratory care equipment after patient use. Reassembles clean equipment. To assure proper operation, inspects equipment and assures proper and safe function as outlined in the Department standard operating procedures. Performs routine preventative maintenance procedures as outlined in Department SOPs, thus assuring equipment is maintained and ready for clinical use. Locates and removes from service equipment to be returned for manufacturer's routine maintenance and calibration. Assures maintenance and repairs are completed in a timely fashion.
- Provides orientation to newly hired Respiratory Care Practitioners as it relates to cleaning, assembly, and assuring proper and safe function of equipment used to provide patient care.
- Performs cylinder rounds, replenishing E-Cylinder contents as necessary. Returns cylinders to appropriate location as required. Assures proper operation of equipment replacing damaged equipment and returns broken equipment to Department.
Qualifications
High School graduate. Requires demonstrated current knowledge or experience with medical equipment. Preferred: 6 months experience regarding ordering of supplies, maintenance of records, purchase orders, and return order forms or currently enrolled in a Respiratory Therapy Program.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Must complete Neonatal Resuscitation Program within one year of Hire Date
