Description
This position involves oversight, management, and related training and supervision of personnel and trainees to design, collect, verify, maintain, manage, and share data for innovative research studies of significant psychiatric and medical questions and methods in humans across the lifespan. This research uses cutting edge measures and methods to understand and reduce human suffering related to psychological, behavioral, social, and environmental factors. The data management team and management of the data that is derived from these studies are critical to this research mission. Drs. Hall, Wallace, and Buysse each lend their expertise to oversee the data management and integration process. Data management activities are carried out in the Center for Sleep and Circadian Science (CSCS), which is housed in Thomas Detre Hall including offices on the 11th floor and the Sleep and Behavioral Neuroscience Center laboratory and offices on the 13th floor. This position is focused primarily on research related to the CSCS, although the data infrastructure and some research is comprised of a larger data infrastructure that serves other investigators in the Department of Psychiatry and related departments. the Clinical Research Center. Similar data management systems are used across researchers and departments in a relational format.
The Database Manager will be primarily responsible for managing the data system, including identifying and supervising relevant system updates, as warranted. They will work closely with investigators on data aspects during study design and start up and oversee training of personnel to manage project-specific data, pursuant to existing and any refined procedures implemented by them. The Database Manager will supervise several data managers whose time and responsibilities are distributed across investigators and studies. In addition, they will oversee the management of specific, high-input data projects including but not limited to managing data from the SBNC used by multiple investigators, working with the Office of Academic Computing to design and implement strategies for standardizing and documenting the accurate and efficient receipt, editing, reporting, storing, and retrieval of research data.
