- $3,500 with a 2-year work commitment

Purpose:
Under the direction of the Crisis Clinician Supervisor, the Crisis Clinician is responsible for providing clinical services to consumers experiencing a self-identified crisis. Primary responsibility is responding to crisis related situations from community professionals and persons. This includes, but is not limited to, answering questions, obtaining clinical information, scheduling outpatient evaluations, responding to telephone crisis, de-escalation, and documentation of all duties previously mentioned.
Crisis Clinician Associate, I and II titles will be considered. The title and pay rate (minimum rate for Crisis Clinician Associate is $18, minimum rate for Crisis Clinician I is $19.36, minimum rate for Crisis Clinician II is $20.89) for these positions may vary depending on education and experience requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Successfully participate in and complete Crisis Clinician orientation process.
- Learn to manage a shift caseload safely and successfully, as assigned and coached by the Lead Clinician.
- Work with crisis leadership to develop assessment, de-escalation, documentation, and motivational interviewing skills.
- Learn to utilize the Electronic Medical Record to obtain relevant information and complete documentation.
- Provide supportive counseling to consumers to promote stability by utilizing a person centered, strength-based model of intervention.
- Work efficiently and independently in crisis setting.
- Support consumer and negotiate appropriate referral services.
- Consults with the Clinician II to establish disposition plans.
- Advocates for Consumer admission to Crisis Residential program when appropriate.
- Encourages Consumers to consider admission to Walk-In program for further support and assessment when appropriate.
- Meets documentation expectations and completes all required paperwork.
- Completes face to face crisis assessments.
- Responds to telephone calls from consumer(s), community, and natural supports.
- Manages crisis situations effectively using positive approaches.
- Participate in interdisciplinary activities such as trainings and staff meetings.
- Completes case reviews.
- Helps to manage and support the therapeutic milieu, including safety.
Qualifications
Crisis Clinician, Associate
- Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Counseling or Social Work.
Other fields of study may be considered with coursework of at least 12 credits in human services and/or relevant mental health experience.
- Consistent ability to respond calmly and effectively, using good clinical judgment to both psychiatric and medical emergencies.
- Recovery-oriented interpersonal relations.
- Clinical/Crisis experience preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
Crisis Clinician I
- Bachelors Degree in Psychology, Counseling or Social Work with two years clinical experience
OR
- Masters Degree in Psychology, Counseling or Social Work required.
Other fields of study may be considered with coursework of at least 12 credits in human services and/or relevant mental health experience.
- Work history that includes phone triage, as well as an in-depth knowledge and proven skill at doing psychiatric assessments.
- Experience in mental health crisis intervention, case management, or in home therapy preferred.
- Excellent, recovery-oriented interpersonal relations.
- Ability to work shifts, weekends, holidays, and to assume on call responsibilities.
- May in the course of their duties be in rooms where medications are stored or may transport medications when they transport patients.
- Transportation of medication is limited from one department to another.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Act 31 or Act 126 must be obtained within 90 days of hire or transfer. ASIST within 1 year of hire or transfer, Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC) within 60 days of hire or transfer

Crisis Clinician II
- Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Counseling or Social Work with three years clinical experience with one year crisis experience
OR
- Master's Degree in Psychology, Counseling or Social Work with two-year clinical experience required.
Other fields of study may be considered with coursework of at least 12 credits in human services and/or relevant mental health experience.
- Work history that includes phone triage, as well as an in-depth knowledge and proven skill at doing psychiatric assessments.
- Experience in mental health crisis intervention, case management, or in-home therapy preferred.
- Experience and background in mental health, addictions, or criminal justice.
- Excellent, recovery-oriented interpersonal relations
- Licensure in social work or professional counseling is preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- ASIST within 1 year, CCMC within 60 days
- Appl Suicide Intrvn Skls TrnAct 126 Child Abuse Reporting OR Act 31 Clearance (Must be obtained within 90 days of hire or transfer)
