Cardiology Technician
Full-time, Day Shift, Alternating shifts starting at 5:30 AM, 6:30 AM, and 7:30 AM. This position will need to be on call every 3rd weekend and expected to cover call for 2-3 holidays per year.

Purpose:
The Cardiology Technician can perform EKGs, exercise stress tests, and Holter monitors.
Responsibilities:
- Performs 24-hour Holter EKGs, routine EKGs, exercise stress tests, and signal average EKGs and heart variability measurements utilizing proper technique and knowledge of equipment, depending on the skill level, and other duties as directed by the Administrative Director.
- Observes the patient's physical condition and notifies supervisor and nurse practitioner/attending physician of abnormalities. Utilizes skills in observing patients for any abnormal physical conditions. Notifies nurse practitioner, attending physician, and Cardiology Director.
- Prepares and maintains patient records, cards, and files. Files and cards are kept neat and in proper order and are maintained daily. Files are pulled yearly.
- Employee complies with established occupational exposure policies. Adheres to standards about occupational exposure policies. Review standards as changes occur.
- Cleans and cares for supplies and equipment upon completion of work on a routine basis. Assists in cleaning equipment every week. Maintains supplies within all areas of responsibility. Cleans work area as required.
- Demonstrates knowledge and ability to adapt to clinical treatment and instructional aspects of care to all stages of the life cycle and various states of health and disease. Provides quality services and communicates well with all age groups. Understands the disease process as related to illness, including physical and emotional.
- Processes data for interpretation by the Cardiologist by printing out reports including patient's medical diagnosis and cardiac medications. Processes data for interpretation by the Cardiologist by printing out reports including patient's medical diagnosis and cardiac medications.
- Assists with clinical duties, handling calls for appointments and routing outgoing correspondence. Schedules patients for all Cardiology services if required. Handles all outgoing and incoming correspondence appropriately.
- Instructs patient regarding procedures and obtains consent form where needed. Have the patient sign the consent when applicable. The patient is given instructions regarding all procedures before administering services.
Qualifications
- Education and formal training required: Must be a high school graduate plus satisfactory completion of a medical assistant program, cardiology technician program, or as an LPN if experience requirements are met.
- Must successfully pass a rhythm recognition exam after completion of a hospital-provided course.
- Experience: Approved previous on-the-job training and experience in a Cardiology area, either a Hospital setting or physician's office may be accepted in lieu of educational requirements.
- The individual should be knowledgeable in stress testing procedures, Holter monitor applications and interpretation
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR is required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
