Purpose:
Western Psychiatric Hospital is seeking a tech-savvy professional to support educational programming. The Clinical Educator, Behavioral Health will plan, coordinate, supervise and implement educational activities related behavioral health and substance use disorder needs across the lifespan. The Clinical Educator will identify needs for educational programs for Psychiatric/Behavioral Health Nursing Professionals, Milieu Therapists, and Patient Care Technicians. The Clinical Educator will use and apply evidence-based educational concepts. The Clinical Educator will promote continuing education to healthcare professionals. The Clinical Educator will support and manage American Heart Association® Basic Life Support classes for hospital staff. Educational Services is part of Nursing Administration at Western Psychiatric Hospital. Educational Services supports nursing staff with new-hire onboarding, annual competencies, and other classes/trainings as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, supervise and implement educational activities related to behavioral health and substance use disorder needs across the lifespan.
- Identify needs for educational programing for healthcare workers.
- Use and apply evidence-based educational concepts.
- Obtain continuing education approval for trainings and adhere to all requirements.
- Track and interpret outcomes from training to meet identified needs and make improvements.
- Support and manage basic life support program for healthcare workers.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Master's level professional with a degree in human service field required and Three years of experience in teaching, treatment or related prevention field required.
OR
- Bachelors degree with a degree in human service field required and five years of experience in teaching, treatment, or related prevention field required.
- Knowledge of federal and state behavioral health and addiction procedures and prevention programs is preferred.
- Psychiatric experience preferred.
- Expertise with Outlook applications like Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Word, etc. preferred.
- Expert organizational skills preferred.
- Excellent written/oral communication skills preferred.
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Instructor card preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
License preferred. Experience with completion and maintenance of `trained trainer’ in behavioral health courses preferred
- Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
