The Geriatric Neuropsychology Research Program (GNRP) is looking for a Research Data Collector for ThinkPHRESH, a community-based research study! The goal of our work is to understand the effects of structural racism on cognitive decline in African Americans. This study works directly with under-investigated populations, specifically those within the Homewood and Hill District communities. Our team collects thinking, memory, and health data from participants in their home or at local community centers. This is part of a larger, ongoing research study called PHRESH. This position provides an opportunity develop skills in public health, community engagement, medicine, mental health, and research.
This position involves working in these two local neighborhoods at least 2 days each week, and on other days supports both in-person and remote work.

Responsibilities:
- Administer cognitive and clinical evaluations from participants as required.
- Independently prepare materials for cognitive and clinical assessments and confirm appointments with participants
- Collect mental health data in a sensitive and trauma-informed manner.
- Must travel to research participants’ homes and local community centers within Homewood and the Hill District where you will conduct assessments (access to a vehicle is strongly preferred)
- Retrieves current and retrospective data on an ongoing basis, for assigned studies.
- Assists research personnel in collecting and verifying information related to protocol management.
- Responsible for maintaining research records.
- Enters data into the database as designated per research study.
- Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Education in health care or related field
OR
- Two years of experience in health care or related field. Microsoft Office skills and knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- The ideal candidate has excellent interpersonal skills and comfortability approaching sensitive topics like mental health with research participants.
- Experience working within Homewood and Hill District communities is preferred.
- Physical demands: Must be able to transport a briefcase of research materials between worksites.
