Description
UPMC Shadyside is seeking a Flex/Full-Time Nuclear Cardiology Tech Adv to join the Non-Invasive Cardiology Unit! This position will consist of 8-hour, daylight shifts Monday - Saturday. Start times offered: 6:30am and 7:00am. Saturday and holiday shifts will start at 6:30am - until all studies are completed.
Performs imaging procedures at an advanced level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of advanced technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.
Responsibilities:
- Participates in standardization activities with system-level workgroups.
- Assist with educating staff and student technologists to provide technical guidance and education.
- Monitors quality control activities and demonstrates advanced level of knowledge in nuclear medicine by providing patient care as defined by the most up to date protocols and procedures.
- Works directly with Cardiologists regarding protocol development.
- Interacts with patients and co-workers by displaying the values of caring, listening, dignity and respect.
- Performs or assists Clinical Specialist in performing QA, regulatory testing, and other technical and research initiatives.
- Performs all responsibilities of Level I Nuclear Medicine tech including maintains proper records of radiopharmaceuticals and calculates, measures and records patient dose.
- Performs all quality control checks on imaging and non-imaging equipment.
- Properly identifies all patients and provides instructions for exams.
- Competently performs all nuclear cardiology exams and codes and tracks exams in RIS.
- Demonstrates the ability to function independently, and is able to cover off shifts, on-call responsibilities, and perform services at satellite facilities, where applicable, while continually communicating with lead and management team.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology Program required.
- 2 Years nuclear cardiology experience required.
- Must have obtained a performance review rating of strong/solid/good on most recent performance review to be eligible for promotion.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- ARRT(N) or CNMT registry required.
- CPR or BLS Required.
- Act 33, 34, 73 or as required by BU.
- ARRT Certificate OR Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTC)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Act 34
