UPMC Corporate Legal is hiring a Assistant Counsel to join our team at the US Steel Tower in downtown Pittsburgh. In this role, the Assistant Counsel will provide effective legal counsel to assist in meeting the legal needs of a large, diverse health care financing and delivery system.

Responsibilities:
- Provide general legal support for UPMC International operations.
- Provide legal support including due diligence on International transactions.
- Ensure that the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) regulations are evaluated and abided by in all International transactions.
- Provide legal counsel and legal services relating to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and data privacy issues.
- Prefer some knowledge to apply general legal knowledge in the following areas, among others: health care laws and regulations (e.g. Medicare, Medicaid, licensure, accreditation, malpractice liability, medical staff, patient care law, behavioral health, guardianships, etc.), corporate law, taxation, real estate, labor and employment, antitrust, insurance, commercial and finance; and apply specialized legal knowledge in international law.
- Apply legal knowledge, analysis and judgment to identify alternative approaches and their relative merits and recommend solutions to legal problems, including daily issues as well as more complex issues.
- Assist senior UPMC attorneys and/or outside counsel in either highly complex litigation or highly complex business transactions.
Qualifications
- J.D. Degree required.
- Minimum four years experience as a practicing attorney, including significant experience in health law or another relevant specialty, such as employment law or litigation.
- Pennsylvania license or obtain such license within six (6) months of date-of-hire required
- Must demonstrate Ability to independently handle unique, sensitive and moderately complex legal matters, with minimal supervision and oversight.
- Ability to apply legal knowledge, analysis and judgment to address moderately complex legal problems arising in the organization.
