Description
Responsibilities of the Journeyman 2 Carpenter role:
- Construct and maintain structural and architectural woodwork, equipment and fixtures; build millwork, construct casework per print and perform masonry repairs as needed.
- Maintain clean and safe work areas, equipment rooms and shop areas.
- Operate power woodworking machinery such a lathes, saws, sander, power actuated tools, etc.
- Perform all work following infection control procedures.
- Perform any maintenance work required in which skills can be utilized.
- Perform related duties such as repair and install locks, install window glass, cut, fit and cement linoleum, lay resilient tile floors, etc.
- Perform rough and finished carpentry, i.e. build millwork, and construct casework.
- Record personal work orders and submit hours to supervisor in a daily basis.
- Repair furniture, window, floor or structural and architectural woodwork by measuring, sawing, squaring, fitting, sanding and nailing or other processes where articles require closely fitted parts.
- Responsible for setting up appropriate level of infection control containment (ICRA) based on risk level and maintaining the integrity of that containment.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an industry-recognized three-year apprenticeship program in carpentry or equivalent on-the-job training.
- Two additional years of experience as a journeyman carpenter OR what is required by local governing authority.
- Must be skilled with the use of all woodworking tools. This training includes such skills as blueprint reading, shop arithmetic, knowledge of strength of materials and their characteristics.
- Knowledge of building codes is essential.
- May in the course of their duties be in rooms where medications are stored. No contact with medications is allowed.
