Description
We are looking to hire a Research Specialist to direct day-to-day operations of the Translational Neuropsychiatry Through Neuromodulation (TN2) lab in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh (http://moussawi.pitt.edu). This position calls for a responsible, conscientious, and detail-oriented individual committed to facilitating the research goals of the lab in a friendly yet authoritative manner.
This position is grant funded.
Responsibilities:
- Maintaining animal colonies (i.e. genotyping, breeding, record-keeping)
- Updating animal protocols
- Ensuring compliance with institutional and federal guidelines in health and safety
- Providing training and supervision to other trainees
- Maintenance of lab reagents
- Improving lab workflow and maximizing efficiency
- Onboarding of new personnel
- Placing orders for lab supplies and communicating with vendors and other labs in the department
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Psychology, Neuroscience, Sociology or related research field.
- Minimum of one year of work experience in a research project and/or related clinical setting is required.
- Familiarity with computers and common software packages required.
- Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred.
