Across UPMC, our guiding principle is to always prioritize the safety of our employees, patients, and members. UPMC believes that vaccination is important, helps protect all, and advocates that everyone who can be vaccinated should be vaccinated.

UPMC complies with all governmental requirements related to local, state, and federal COVID-19 vaccination for employment. The Jan. 13 Supreme Court of the United States decision that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate will move forward requires UPMC to ensure employees either get vaccinated or receive a requested medical or religious exemption.

Research Specialist | Translational Neuropsychiatry Through Neuromodulation (TN2) lab

Description

We are looking to hire a Research Specialist to direct day-to-day operations of the Translational Neuropsychiatry Through Neuromodulation (TN2) lab in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh (http://moussawi.pitt.edu). This position calls for a responsible, conscientious, and detail-oriented individual committed to facilitating the research goals of the lab in a friendly yet authoritative manner. 

This position is grant funded.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining animal colonies (i.e. genotyping, breeding, record-keeping)
  • Updating animal protocols
  • Ensuring compliance with institutional and federal guidelines in health and safety
  • Providing training and supervision to other trainees
  • Maintenance of lab reagents
  • Improving lab workflow and maximizing efficiency
  • Onboarding of new personnel
  • Placing orders for lab supplies and communicating with vendors and other labs in the department

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Psychology, Neuroscience, Sociology or related research field.
  • Minimum of one year of work experience in a research project and/or related clinical setting is required.
  • Familiarity with computers and common software packages required.
  • Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred.
