Western Psychiatric Hospital (WPH) is looking to add a Crisis Trainer to our Crisis Training Institute’s team! The Crisis Training Institute (CTI) is one of a few agencies leading the area of Crisis Intervention. If you have experience in crisis training or curriculum development, consider applying today!
Purpose:
To plan for, coordinate and assure high quality clinical and educational programming as part of the CTI; to ensure the provision of effective consultation and training to provider agencies in Western Pennsylvania, other contracting agencies, schools, organizations, and UPMC staff.
Responsibilities:
- Teach all levels of Crisis Management-related programs to management and staff of WPH, UPMC affiliates, and contracted external organizations.
- Update Crisis Management Training related to regulatory policy, best practices, and program quality as needed.
- Assist in the development and implementation of special programs/trainings (Positive Approaches, Advanced Response Training, Skills Practice, and unit in-services) for staff within UPMC.
- Provide follow up training and re-certification as required by organization and regulations.
- Provide "train the trainer" sessions and assess the competence of trainers.
- Provide crisis management consultation regarding environmental assessments, treatment planning/behavior plans, specific to violent patients or behavioral problems, and levels of intervention.
- Gather and evaluate data as part of the Quality Assessment Monitoring.
- Participate in marketing activities to promote and represent CTI.
- Complete all documentation and record keeping as required.
- Provide internal clinical support within WPH/UPMC as needed (when not providing training).
- Undertake other tasks assigned in support of the WPH/UPMC mission.

Qualifications
- Master's degree required in education or related human services field with two years of training experience required
OR
- a Bachelor's degree in education or related human services field with four years of training experience required.
- Training experience may include curriculum development, assessing core clinical competencies of staff and developing training programs to improve core competencies, developing learning objectives, etc.
- Experience and knowledge regarding the range of community-based and/or state hospital treatment programs in western Pennsylvania is desirable.
- Trainer certification in Comprehensive Crisis management, Psychological first aid, and Critical Incident Stress Management training is preferred.
- May in the course of their duties be in rooms where medications are stored or may transport medications when they transport patients. Transportation of medication is limited from one department to another.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
