Custodial Worker (part-time) - UPMC McKeesport

Description

UPMC McKeesport is looking to hire a part-time Custodial Worker to work various shifts (day, evening and overnight).  This position will also have rotating weekend and holiday respoinsiblity.

Purpose:
Clean and service building areas according to established procedures. Move furniture, equipment, and supplies in and around hospital departments and performs a variety of environmental service duties to maintain the hospital in a neat, orderly, and sanitary condition.

Responsibilities:

  • Clean patient rooms, including operating rooms, as assigned daily and performs terminal cleaning of patient rooms at discharge.
  • Strictly adhere to all policies and practices relative to patient care and hospital related information.
  • Operate various types of cleaning equipment, both mechanical and electrical, i.e. buffers, wringers, scrubbers, vacuums.
  • Clean and disinfect equipment including but not limited to bedside commodes, IV standard and pumps, and specialty equipment and wheeled equipment.
  • Clean assigned areas by washing furniture with an EPA approved germicidal solution.
  • Scrub and strip hard floors, and refinish floors using a floor maintenance program, chemicals, and machines.
  • Re-stock unit-specific equipment and supplies as assigned (refer to area signature service sheet).
  • Complete and document daily routine responsibilities on the unit including but not limited to signature service log, designated equipment maintenance checks, etc.
  • Collect soiled linens, trash, and waste (including infectious waste) from all areas of the hospital as assigned, disinfect garbage cans, and disinfect/clean compactor area.
  • Ensure equipment malfunctions are properly tagged, reported, and delivered to the appropriate department.
  • Ensure storerooms and trash chute rooms are clean and organized.
  • Shampoo and extract carpets, furniture and runners, cleans stairways, elevators and baseboards.

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year previous job experience required in lieu of High school diploma/equivalent.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in order to successfully complete custodial duties and the ability to use custodial equipment required.
  • Prior job experience preferred.
  • May in the course of duties be in rooms where medications are stored. No contact with medications is allowed.
