Description
Purpose:
The Diet Clerk services as a liaison to other department for the purpose of providing assistance and information concerning patient meal services throughout the health system.
Responsibilities:
- Adheres to all appearance standards and maintaining a professional dress
- Adheres to all HIPAA standards and practices when dealing with protected health information.
- Punches in and out for every shift on the assigned Kronos time tracking system.
- Completes the annual educational modules as assigned.
- Maintains an accurate inventory of patient menus, education materials, forms and supplies.
- Processes nourishment orders according to established procedures.
- Prepares menus for distribution and tally.
- Greets telephone callers in a courteous manner according to procedures while recording and transmitting messages accurately.
- Arranges and sorts menus by unit.
- Reviews menus for completeness and brings problems to attention of clinical staff.
- Confers with dietitians or appropriate manager regarding problems related to nutrition care service and distribution of food to assigned patients.
- Communicates in a responsive manner to personnel in other departments to ensure quality patient care.
- Greets patients and informs of menu selection process in a timely fashion.
- Collects, corrects, and updates menus according to physician orders and nutrition requirements.
- Keeps patient diet order lists, tube feeding lists, and other communication devices current, recording diet changes as necessary.
- Contributes ideas and feedback to the department and is able to be depended upon to meet commitments.
- Ensures that each customer feels informed, understood, and special through genuine and positive communication.
- Maintains a contagious and positive work ethic.
- Maintains the highest levels of safety, quality and service excellence for clients, consumers, shareholders, and the community.
- Provides world-class service to customers and client.
- Maintains a friendly, efficient, positive customer service attitude toward customers, clients and co-workers, and is responsive to customer needs.
Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED, ORCurrently enrolled in high school program, OR1 year previous job experience required in lieu of High school diploma/GED.Work permit required if under 18 years old.Knowledge of therapeutic diets and nutrition preferred.Previous customer service experience preferred.Computer experience preferred.
