The Training & Development Consultant is responsible for creating and sustaining strong physician leaders through establishing a consistent approach to physician leadership development.  This role will drive to establish a culture of learning that effectively addresses physician leaders' learning needs and styles, ensures effective application of leadership skills, and ongoing sustainability and reinforcement of learning opportunities.  The Training & Development Consultant will identify measures of success for various development opportunities and meet desired outcomes.  This role will work closely with physician leaders, internal partners, and external experts to promote thought leadership, best-practice sharing, and collaborations. 


  • Coordinate and compose communications on training opportunities and services.
  • Design, coordinate, update and facilitate development programs and provide ongoing assessment of the effectiveness of programs.
  • Keep abreast of current training informational materials and make recommendations to support the department's overall objectives and HR objectives.
  • Monitor, determine, and report on the effectiveness of education/training programs and the transfer of learned skills to the work place by using a variety of measurement tools that include evaluations, assessments, and surveys (when appropriate).
  • Participate in the assessment of the learning and developmental needs of the organization by developing relationships with the business unit liaisons and leaders as appropriate.
  • Provide consultation and solutions to business units on development needs.
  • Work closely with other training professionals and offer assistance to ensure consistency in program delivery.
  • Effectively manage the Training Associate through providing clear guidance and direction and ongoing feedback regarding performance.
  • Facilitate foundational sessions focusing on strategic planning, goal setting, etc.
  • Seek involvement from executives, physicians, functional leaders, and others to support physician-leadership development programs.
  • Identify, evaluate, and interact with appropriate vendors; communicate development needs; explore appropriate programs/resources to address needs; and propose optimal programs/resources to meet needs.
  • Liaise as needed with UPMC International Training Center of Excellence to support a consistent approach to physician leadership development.





  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business, Training and Development or related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years combined experience in Training (combination of designing and facilitating training/education programs).
  • Knowledge of human resources regulations in the areas of employee relations and recruitment preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of training curriculum design, development and delivery.
  • Must be highly organized, creative, timely, and possess strong communication skills.
  • Must possess high-level analytical skills and knowledge of HR functions. Proficient skills in the use of Microsoft products.
  • Must be able to work regular business hours with scheduling flexibility.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
    DDI Certification preferred.

Salary Range: $25.86 to $43.57
