Purpose:

UPMC Health Plan is growing its Market Intelligence team and we are looking for a Market Analyst Associate to support both the primary research and competitive intelligence areas. This position leverages strong data collection and analytical skills to synthesize marketplace intelligence into actionable deliverables that will help UPMC Health Plan to pursue its organizational objectives.  Aggregate, analyze and synthesize marketing data into communicable deliverables, provide value-add commentaries that will help guide strategic business decisions. Ability to monitor and track industry trends related to health insurance. 


Responsibilities:
  • Analyze and interpret various data sets including survey results, focus group notes, and 3rd-party sources

  • Create reports/presentations that best communicate accomplishments of objectives and summarize research findings

  • Assist in research objective setting with internal stakeholders and presenting research findings

  • Assist in the definition, development, drafting and documentation of research requirements and research plans

  • Develop survey questionnaires, focus group screeners and moderator guides

  • Ability to analyze marketing campaign data requirements/issues to determine appropriate data inputs and outputs.
  • Assist in maintaining existing market automation and intelligence platform(s).
  • Assist other departments during periods of backlogs.
  • Effectively prioritize and complete all assigned tasks.
  • Identify areas of concern that may compromise client satisfaction.
  • Maintain employee/insured confidentiality.
  • Maintain project planning, model business requirements for new systems and enhancements to existing systems.
  • Openly participate in team meetings, provide ideas and suggestions to ensure client satisfaction, and promote teamwork.
  • Participate in training programs as available/requested.
  • Work with users and developers to identify problems and propose solutions.

Qualifications

  • B.A. degree or equivalent work experience. 
  • Two years of marketing or general business experience. 
  • Two years of experience in business/industry specialty. 
  • Knowledge of health care insurance or health care industry a plus.
  • Knowledge of SQL preferred. 
  • Competent in MS Office, and PC skills preferred. 
  • Organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills required.
  • Two years experience in research processes (able to develop insights and recommendations from data) preferred.

  • Strong Microsoft Office (PowerPoint & Excel in particular) capabilities and exceptional presentation building skills preferred.

  • Proficiency in SPSS and Tableau or other statistical package is a plus.  

  • Strong understanding of research principles and best practices preferred.

  • Passion to learn more about market research and market intelligence principals and how research can be used to inform and drive strategic plans preferred.

  • Program survey instruments using online survey tools preferred.

  • Experienced in online survey tools preferred, Qualtrics and Survey Monkey are a plus.
