Student Nursing Assistant
No previous experience required!

Nursing Assistants are an integral part of our care team by providing direct patient care and support services under the direction of a nurse or physician. Nursing Assistants allow UPMC to assure that the highest degree of quality patient care is maintained at all times.


We have Nursing Assistant positions with various shifts and status available!


For individuals with no formal training, UPMC Altoona will provide training to you as a Student Nursing Assistant.  Upon successful completion of the 7-day program, you will be placed into a Nursing Assistant position.


During the training program, Student Nursing Assistants will be trained to care for our patients providing them with activities of daily living such as eating, bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting. Nursing Assistants are also responsible for obtaining routine vital signs, glucose testing, height and weight. Additionally, they assist with transfers and discharges as well as maintain a safe and clean environment. (NOTE: This training will not provide the candidate with PA state nursing certification).

 

Student Nursing Assistant Training Rate:  $10.50/hr.

Upon successful completion of 7-day training program, participants will be moved into a Nursing Assistant position at $11.30/hr.

Qualifications

Education and Formal Training Required:
Must be a high school graduate or hold a GED diploma. Must maintain CPR certification.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance
  • Basic Life Support or Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
