Great Lakes Surgical Specialists, UPMC Hamot Shock Trauma is hiring a full-time Supervisor of APPs, PA or ACNP for the site. The daylight position schedule is Monday through Friday with rotating weekend coverage, current 8-hr shifts with one 24-hr shifts. The role will primarily support hospital rounding with one office day a week. Site coverage will include UPMC Hamot. ACNP certification is required for this specialty.


Purpose:
Coordinate and oversee all physician assistant and certified nurse practitioner functions.

Responsibilities:



•Act as a liaison to and preceptor for PA and CRNP students.
•Assist staff in preparation of conferences.
•Facilitate training of staff for all PA's and CRNP's.
•Implements, maintains, monitors, and communicates Human Resources policies pertaining to PA's and CRNP's.
•Liaison for all mid level providers for each site. This would include communication to the division management and physicians on behalf of the mid level providers, as well as communication to the MLP's from management.
•Organize and oversee staffing of clinical sites with attending physician and Director of Operations.
•Oversee staff adherence to compliance requirements including documentation, coding, licensure, internal and external audits, compliance and safety training (OSHA).
•Participates in recruitment, evaluation, and management of PA and CRNP employees.
•Perform those duties outlined in the Physician Assistant or Certified Nurse Practitioner job description.
•Primary contact for patient complaints or other clinical issues on behalf of the physician in his/her absence.
•Provides departmental leadership to direct, supervise, and manage daily activities of the PA's and CRNP's; completes annual performance evaluations in conjunction with support staff.
•Troubleshoot problems in clinical areas. Work in conjunction with clinical staff to resolve issues.

 

Qualifications

Post-baccalaureate degree required 5 years of experience as a certified nurse practitioner or physician assistant required 3 years experience in the department specialty preferred

PA: A graduate of a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) is required.

ACNP: The successful completion of an approved AC Nurse Practitioner program is required. This position is dependent upon successful attainment and maintenance of hospital privileges, if applicable to the Business Unit practice.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CRNP: National certification, eligible for licensure by Pennsylvania board of nursing, eligible for certification as a ACNP by Pennsylvania state board of nursing CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

•Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal
•Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal
•Act 73 FBI Clearance
•Basic Life Support or Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
