The Market Intelligence team is looking for a Project Analyst to be responsible for disseminating competitive intelligence to the entire UPMC Health Plan on a daily basis. This position leverages strong data collection and analytical skills to synthesize marketplace intelligence into actionable deliverables that will help UPMC Health Plan to pursue its organizational objectives.  Aggregate, analyze and synthesize marketing data into communicable deliverables, provide value-add commentaries that will help guide strategic business decisions. Ability to monitor and track local and national industry trends related to health insurance and health care.

  • Advise supervising Project Manager and others of pending due dates.
  • Aggregate, analyze, and synthesize competitive intelligence and marketplace dynamic information and industry trends into actionable deliverables
  • Assist in the development of business cases, work plans, communications, etc.
  • Communicate with members of UPMC management and staff regarding assigned projects
  • Develop internal communication vehicles designed to help streamline the delivery of marketing intelligence findings and reports.
  • Evaluate and track new existing competitor products and services
  • Generate necessary project documentation, including meeting minutes, project deliverables, etc.
  • Handle project administrative duties including scheduling requirements, SharePoint requirements, etc.
  • Identify and help resolve potential issues and/or barriers which are critical to the success of a project.
  • Maintain project documents within approved archival systems.
  • Track and document all market intelligence and competitive information.


  • B.A. degree and two years experience (preferred).
  • Experience in health care insurance or health care industry preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills required, including MS Office Suite Strong problem solving, organizational, and communication skills (oral and written) are required.
  • Very well organized and deadline conscious. 
  • Project Management knowledge and future potential to manage multiple projects required.
  • Strong Excel skills are strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience in researching current events is a plus.

Salary Range: $22.60 to $39.11
