Cash receipt processing and small account and individual account reconciliation to the membership level for all UPMC Health Plan and UPMC Health Benefits products (except Medicaid), ensuring that every active member IS billed the proper premium and all premiums are collected and applied accurately and timely.

  • Communicate, orally and in writting, with employer groups and/or members of outstanding balances, discrepancies and other account issues
  • Interface in person with internal and external customers to assure resolution of inquiries and concerns.
  • Notify self-billed groups on a monthly basis of membership discrepancies and the changes made as a result of their payment submission.
  • Process all membership for Commercial groups or prepare the necessary membership change paperwork to be forward to Government Enrollment on an accurate and timely basis, according to quality standards and policies and procedures.
  • Process premium payments received into operating system on an accurate and timely basis, according to quality standards and policies and procedures.
  • Process the warning letters for all of the groups or individuals with unpaid premiums.
  • Reconcile premium paid to small market and individual account reconciliation to the members billed on an accurate and timely basis, according to quality standards and policies and procedures.
  • Review and research monetary adjustments for all premium invoices, write up the proper adjustment and attach the proper documentation for Maintain A/R and Cash reallocations.


  • High school diploma is required. 
  • Minimum of two years of billing or A/R experience, preferably in insurance or health care environment required. 
  • Competency in utilizing an integrated operating system is required. 
  • Demonstrate professionalism, enthusiasm and initiative on a daily basis, as well as the ability to handle multiple tasks. Attention to detail, organizational and communication skills required.
  • Team and customer orientation is required. 
  • Demonstrated competency in Excel, Access and Word required.
