Description

The Research studies in this group focus on pharmacologic studies during pregnancy. The Research Technician will be screening and recruiting subjects from physician offices, completing subject questionnaires, drawing blood and processing samples. They will also be responsible for organizing and maintaining detailed inventory records of specimens from previous and current studies as well as creating excel spreadsheets with patient demographic information upon request. 
 
The ideal candidate for this position is a Spring 2018 graduate with their Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a related field, along with some experience with Phlebotomy.
 
This position is grant funded. 
 
Purpose:
Under supervision, responsible for accurately performing research projects according to established study design and procedures.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer questionnaires, and assist with procedures for obtaining patient screening and recruitment as well as obtaining research specimens.
  • Assist in obtaining educational resources necessary to perform and interpret research and to remain abreast in research area of function.
  • Assist in performing research protocol experimental procedures, under close supervision, including appropriate collection, recording, storage and analysis of data.
  • Follow appropriate research policies and procedures including all applicable laws and regulations and maintain scientific integrity including accurate data storage.
  • Maintain a safe clean laboratory-working environment including appropriate equipment maintenance and usage, by conforming to laboratory and Hospital policies and standards.
  • Maintain laboratory inventory, including timely ordering and receipt of required supplies and their proper storage.
  • Prepare, label, store and dispose of reagents and calibrates equipment for research projects.
  • Responsible for following the mandatory reporting procedures for any incident or serious event that did affect or potentially could have affected the clinical care of any patient.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of college training or one year of experience working within a biomedical research laboratory environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately collect, store and interpret research data.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with patients, staff and investigators.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred.  
  • Previous research or clinical experience with human interaction is preferred.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
