Description

Purpose:
This individual is responsible for providing chairside patient assistance performing and retrieving all pertinent information needed for physician to diagnose and treat patients.   We will consider all levels of the career ladder.  The  final title and pay will be determined  by education, experience, and certifications.

Responsibilities:
  • Angle assessment & proper dilation of pupils.
  • Assist with maintaining office inventory, notifying appropriate staff when supplies are needed, restocking exam rooms, cleaning and sterilizing of instruments and cleaning patient exam rooms at end of day.
  • Contact lenses: insertion, removal and instructions
  • Demonstrated ability to perform: fundus, external photos, slit lamp photos, Ascan (sonomed, iol master & Lenstar) topography, OCT
  • History taking to include ocular, medical, medication, social and family.
  • Lensometry & Keratometry: automated and manual
  • Ocular Motility: functions & anomalies, cover tests, stereo-acuity, nystagmus
  • Pupillary assessment: measurement, compare and evaluate.
  • Refractometry: manifest refractometry & auto-refractor, transposing scripts
  • Supplemental skills: pachymetry, calibrating biometry instruments, Schirmer's, Rose Bengal, glare testing, color testing
  • Tonometry: Goldmann, Icare, Tonopen and the care and proper disinfection of each
  • Visual acuity assessment: with and without correction, distance, near and intermediate, pinhole, best corrected, potential acuity, brightness acuity
  • Visual fields: Amsler grid, confrontation fields, automated perimetry

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • One year experience as an Ophthalmic Technician and current COA certificate required.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
    Valid CPR certification
  • Valid COA current certification
  • Act 33, 34 & 73 within 90 days of employment

  • Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant
