UPMC Altoona - MH Sap Coordinator - Part time - Day light - 20 hrs



Responsible to provide community based services including information and referral, crisis intervention, assessments, intakes, case management, and therapy to assigned caseload. Will develop and coordinate programs within the community systems so as to serve the mental health needs of children and adolescents. Required to provide back-up services to Community Crisis Center, Human Services Coordinator, and TSSA Program when needed. Also provide consultation and education services in the community as assigned.


  • Adhere to code of ethics established for Mental Health professionals
  • Cooperate with fiscal staff in submitting billing forms and supporting the financial determination of client liability
  • Develop and implement summer programs for students selected through the Student Assistance Program within the school district. Develop and implement educational and support groups for clients, families, and school personnel.
  • Maintain records in a timely fashion and prepare reports related to assigned duties.
  • Participate in planning and implementation of controllingcosts (e.g. labor, materials, methods, processes).
  • Participate in quality enhancement initiatives, including completion of statistical reports, quality assurance monitors, and outcome reports as required
  • Provide case management services which includes assessment, support, and timely linkage with other services. Provide consultation and education services as assigned. Provide back-up coverage for Human Services Coordinator and Community Crisis Center.
  • Provide crisis intervention to individuals within the schools and homes as indicated. Complete assessments and intakes when indicated.
  • Provide information, referral, and follow-up services to children, adolescents, and families.
  • Provide liaison services as assigned in order to develop and maintain working relationship between systems, and actively participate with school Core Teams to problem solve and maintain program integrity.
  • Provide training and supervision for new employees, interns, and volunteers as needed.
  • Understands the special needs of patients with co-occurring disorders (mental health and substance abuse), and utilizes appropriate assessment and inter-vention techniques.
  • When assigned, function as a therapist providing individual, group, and family treatment.


  • Bachelors Degree in clinical psychology, social work, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years experience in an acceptable related field of practice.
  • Crisis intervention and school related work experience preferred.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
    CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

  • Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
  • Basic Life Support or Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
