Perform all scheduling-related functions, fulfill requests for supplemental nursing support from UPMC facilities, and day-to-day management/interaction with UPMC System Nursing Resources nursing staff.


Position is located in the heart of Oakland at 220 Meyran Avenue.


  • Ability to manage phone and e-mail conversations in an organized manner.
  • Alert UPMC System Nursing Resources HR consultant and/or manager of any performance issues and policy infractions related to System Nursing Resources nursing staff.
  • Conduct all scheduling interactions to fill supplemental nursing request orders, and document appropriately within the Shiftwise database.
  • Data enters new System Nursing Resources nursing staff into the Shiftwise VMS.
  • Document all interactions and communications with System Nursing Resources nursing staff via Shiftwise VMS.
  • Enforce UPMC System Nursing Resources, UPMC, and Nursing policies and procedures.
  • Ensure System Nursing Resources nursing staff and placed agency nursing staff have appropriate credentials and are compliant with regulatory standards prior to placement in any assignment.
  • Establish business relationships with UPMC facility contacts (AOD's, UD's, and schedulers) to best understand facility needs and ensure staffing support when requested.
  • Instruct and inform UPMC System Nursing Resources nursing staff about new policy and process updates and/or changes
  • Keep UPMC System Nursing Resources manager informed of nursing activity/trends within UPMC's facilities as it relates to filling supplemental nursing staff orders.
  • Manage, schedule, and determine availability of System Nursing Resources nursing staff to best match with available nursing assignments.
  • Responsible for placing orders within the Shiftwise VMS for any needs vended out to external agencies.
  • Responsible for serving as the point of contact for UPMC System Nursing Resources' contracted nursing vendors, and managing those relations.
  • Schedule UPMC System Nursing Resources nursing staff and external nursing agency staff for UPMC facilities, as requested by those customers in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Work with managers to fill long-term supplemental staffing needs.


  • High School diploma is required.
  • College degree is preferred.
  • Two years of experience within a customer service and/or healthcare environment is required.
  • One year of experience within a healthcare/patient setting is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Computer skills and knowledge is required, including knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Salary Range: $14.53 to $22.86
