Provide quality diagnostic echocardiography imaging to patients in a friendly and courteous manner. Maintain records, inventory, quality control, and Radiology Information System data entry in an effort to provide smooth and efficient service.

  • Information is gathered by the use of the machine and the echocardiographer. 
  • When the information is obtained the cardiologist reviews the films and images and dictates a report that becomes part of the patients permanent record.
  • Maintain records, inventory, and quality control in an effort to provide a smooth and efficient service for echocardiography and cardiologist.
  • Perform echocardiographic imaging exams on patients.
  • Utilize RIS for exam data entry and related informational requirements.
  • Utilize information viewed on screen and provides documentation of anatomy and physiology demonstrated. 
  • Anatomy, both normal and abnormal, must be known and demonstrated as documentation.
  • Utilize specific echocardiography machines as well as specific transducers to perform echocardiogram.


  • Knowledge of human anatomy and ability to recognize abnormal findings required. 
  •  Ability to operate different types of echocardiography equipment that is used to scan patients is required. 
  • Computer skills. 
  •  Ability to obtain and interpret information pertinent to patients needs for an age range of newborn to 90+ years. 
  • Knowledge of growth and development for patients age newborn to 90+ years. 
  • Knowledge or range of treatment pertinent for ages of patients served. 
  • Ability to operate the following equipment: echocardiography machines and transducers, 2-D imaging, M-mode imaging, color Doppler imaging, and pulsed and continuous wave Doppler techniques for echocardiography required. 
  • Knowledge and utilization of transesophageal echocardiography and stress echocardiography preferred or competency must be gained within 1 year of entry.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
  • ARRT preferred
  • Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
  • American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
  • Basic Life Support or Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
  • Older Adult Protective Services Act
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonogram
