Are you an experienced nurse with a background in case management? Are you someone who enjoys training new team members and supporting current staff as new technology is launched? UPMC Corporate is seeking a full-time Care Management Training Specialist nurse to help support our care management operations in the South Side neighborhood in the city of Pittsburgh.

This is a unique position in a flexible work environment that offers exposure to many hospital locations to provide training to care management staff. This position will work Monday through Friday daylight hours, flexible scheduling available.

This role will afford you with the ability to focus on hospital care management programs and end-user questions. You will assess staff training needs, schedule/plan/deliver training classes, and maintain records of training activities for system-wide staff. You will coordinate and support information systems, processes and procedures and assure that all processes and training are compliant with regulatory and JCAHO requirements.

You will also respond to procedural questions and provide high level of technical and general support to the end user. You will assist in the facilitation of all information system changes and enhancements, developing appropriate training material content and assist in the technical component of the training program.

  • Actively participates in meetings related to development and enhancement of Care Management technology.
  • Acts as liaison between end user and internal ISD departments /outside vendors.
  • Analyzes training results to ensure training materials. Updates material as appropriate.
  • Assists in determining system-wide Care Management learning needs by conducting audits for facility CM staff that will ensure that established training goals and objectives are met.
  • Assists in development of training materials and methodology to reflect Care Management processes.
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of department training website.
  • Assures quality of information of technology solutions through application level testing, validates testing results.
  • Collaborates with Care Management, ISD, Patient Access, and other departments to ensure training material is compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Designs end user level procedures to support Care Management technology. Create user manuals, education materials, resource guides for all new or updated system functions.
  • Measures/documents training results and maintains records of training activities.
  • Performs assessment of care management staff and implements appropriate training and development plan of action that ensures basic computer skills are learned.
  • Prepares monthly training and development schedule and communicates with UPMC Care Management staff.
  • Provides on-site support of care management staff as appropriate based on identified learning needs.
  • Schedules, implements and delivers training classes for UPMC Care Management staff to ensure that established training goals and objectives are met.
  • Support the vision of the UPMC Corporate Care Management in providing outstanding support, education, training and development.


  • Bachelors Degree in nursing or science required
  • Registered Nurse
  • 3 years experience in health care related field
  • Previous care management experience strongly preferred
  • Understanding of clinical processes
  • Knowledge of medical necessity criteria
  • Excellent Oral and written communication skills
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Organization/time management and prioritization skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Registered Nurse
