Under the direction of the Vice President, responsible for the region, this position is responsible for operational and strategic oversight as well as overall financial performance of the regional service area, where delivery of high quality care is priority

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in establishing and implementing policies related to regional operations including, but not limited to, professional licensure, registration and/or certification; risk management; clinical operations and clinical compliance; and staff and patient safety.Assist in establishing and implementing policies related to regional operations including, but not limited to, professional licensure, registration and/or certification; risk management; clinical operations and clinical compliance; and staff and patient safety.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop regional business strategies in the areas of: Hospital affiliations/relationships to advance business opportunities and Regional physician acquisitions, recruitment, relationships including primary care, specialists, specialty clinics, urgent care etc.
  • Coordination with the UPMC Health Plan and other regional payor initiatives
  • Develop an annual plan of action for physician network development for the Pennsylvania & New York markets and manage the efforts to accomplish these actions, address programmatic issues, and identify program opportunities.
  • Development and oversight of the telemedicine program, expansion of telemedicine clinics.
  • Engagement with regional community and business leaders to advance healthcare relationships
  • Engagement with regional government representatives´┐Ż relationships related to regional healthcare partnership opportunities
  • Lead the execution of the Pennsylvania & New York hospital and physician strategies in cooperation with local delivery system executive leadership
  • Maximize clinical integration between hospitals and employed or contracted physicians to improve quality and patient satisfaction, cost efficiency in care delivery, competitive differentiation and best in class profitability
  • Oversees the daily operations and strategic development of GLPP and other regional physician offices as assigned
  • Oversight of regional physician practice management in NY and PA. 3. Development and expansion of regional specialty clinics.
  • Perform annual assessment of the competitiveness of UPMC Hamot within Pennsylvania & New York while developing a strong strategic planning process. This process should include developing detailed situational analysis, specific business strategies and detailed operating plans.
  • Provide senior level guidance in day-to-day operations, budgeting/fiscal resources, payer network relations, regulatory compliance and leadership development.
  • Strategic and operational planning for healthcare facilities and physician practices within the defined geographical region.
  • Work with hospitals and medical group personnel to assure UPMC Hamot, as part of the greater UPMC system, builds a delivery system that will successfully engage patients in choosing health plans in Pennsylvania & New York which are commensurate with care at the UPMC facilities.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree required
  • Extensive experience in physician relations and strategic development required
