UPMC Susquehanna is looking for a Full-time Rehab Liaison to work at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center. This position is an integral part of the Rehab Administrative team and is eligible for a monthly liaison bonus for exceeding a predetermined number of admissions to Rehab. 


Full-time; 40 hours per week

Hours 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Oversee all aspects of the admission process for both internal and external admissions for the comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation program. Gather information about potential patients and complete assessments for admission in collaboration with the rehabilitation physicians. Initiate and complete required forms. Assist with referral development and marketing.


  • Assist as requested with performing medical record chart audits to assure compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Assist the Rehab administrative team in formulating and communicating program mission, goals, objectives, and action plans.
  • Assist with accurate completion of the Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility-Patient Assessment Instrument (IRF-PAI) form.
  • Assist with marketing/sales and referral development for Inpatient Rehab admissions.
  • Assume responsibility for personal development and education.
  • Communicate the status of daily admissions to all involved staff and referring facilities.
  • Coordinate the Rehab admission process, adhering to Medicare regulations and other third-party payor requirements and prepare, submit, and review monthly and quarterly referral, admission, and denial statistics.
  • Educate patients and significant others, referral sources, staff and physicians of the benefits of the programs, services and admission requirement for comprehensive Inpatient Rehab.
  • Facilitate approval for inpatient comprehensive Rehab admissions by performing on-site and telephone pre-admission screenings and clinical assessments.
  • Negotiate admission approval and rehab rates with third-party payors.
  • Participate in and/or serve as team leader of committees that address Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), Joint Commission and other rehab standards.


Graduate of a NLN accredited school of nursing or Bachelors Degree in Social Work or in an Allied Health Profession whose practice act permits patient assessment required. Three months experience in a healthcare setting required.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Functional Independence Measure (FIMS) certification Required within 90 days
