Abstract medical and statistical information from the medical records into EPICCare e-record.

  • Ability to assess correct information in areas of overlap.
  • Ability to utilize independent judgment as required.
  • Communicate issues relevant to e-record data collection to appropriate PSD personnel.
  • Cooperate with other Health Information Management Department functions to ensure charts are processed in a timely manner.
  • Follow the mandatory reporting procedures for any incident or serious event that did affect or potentially could have affected the clinical care of any patient.
  • Handle inquiries appropriately and professionally.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Provide back-up to scanners as appropriate.
  • Review medical record and enter specified data elements into the e-record.
  • Route abstracted charts appropriately.
  • Understand of physician terminology and documentation.


High school diploma or equivalent required. 6 months experience with medical terminology, medical record content, anatomy or physiology required. Computer/keyboarding skills and working knowledge of office equipment operations required. Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality required.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
