Great Lakes Physician Practice (GLPP) is actively searching for a full-time Director of Practice Management for our Jamestown Area Medical Associates division.

Great Lakes Physician Practice (GLPP) is a network of family physicians and specialists dedicated to making quality care for families more accessible and more comprehensive than ever before. Our network includes the primary care doctors, surgeons, and specialists of Jamestown Area Medical Associates (JAMA) as well as the primary care physicians and physical therapists of Chautauqua Medical Services.

This position will work in the Jamestown area in western upstate New York

As Director, you will plan and direct the development and administration of JAMA operations in accordance with the corporate plan of Regional Health Services (RHS) and GLPP, a division of RHS. Additionally, you will support UPMC's overall efforts in developing a referral network through practice enhancement/management efforts and practice evaluation and acquisitions.

  • Directly impacts overall institutional budgets of $20 million. Total number of direct staff managed 6-10, total number of indirect staff managed 100
  • Applies sound human resource concepts to achieve teamwork, mutual respect, and the maintenance of the highest level of professionalism and a stake in RHS/Hamot's success.
  • Assures compliance with corporate policy and other standards of performance for assigned areas. Monitors changes in legislation and regulations to assure that effective actions are taken in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Coordinates assigned services to achieve economies of scale and collective competitive advantage.
  • Demonstrates Hamot's commitment to service excellence by understanding the needs of patients, their families, physicians and co-workers and doing what is required the first time, every time by being responsible, sensitive, accurate, timely, coordinated and thorough.
  • Designs and implements programs to support major corporate objectives of cost containment, productivity and other financial management efforts.
  • Develops and communicates policies and procedures which support the goals and objectives of operations and established accreditation and regulatory standards.
  • Develops and directs fiscal policies; prepares and adheres to capital, revenue, expense and staff hours budgets; oversees the managed care incentive programs and oversees and is the liaison with the billing company to monitor collection rates and billing issues. Implements measures to enhance the financial position of the specialty physician practices.
  • Develops and implements strategies to provide linkage opportunities between physicians and Hamot through the development of practice management support programs; and to provide for growth and development of operations and increased patient satisfaction.
  • Develops and manages revenue, personnel, capital and other expense budgets to accomplish fiscal objectives of assigned areas.
  • Directs the overall management and business functions of the JAMA Physician Practices. Improves the practice management to work efficiently and cost effectively.
  • Ensures compliance with New York regulations as they pertain to the workforce.
  • Ensures optimal hiring, training, scheduling, evaluation, performance management and recommendation of termination of direct and indirect employees to assure continuity of qualified personnel and the achievement of assigned objectives.
  • Exercises effective leadership in developing and nurturing relationships with Medical Staff members, employees, WCA personnel, community organizations and leaders as related to assigned areas and RHS/Hamot as a whole.
  • Maintains and enhances physician relations and leadership within JAMA, WCA, and Hamot Monitors and provides fiscal management calculations to physicians.
  • Participates in developing, implementing and evaluating RHS/Hamot's mission, core values and corporate goals. Plans, organizes, implements, directs and evaluates the development of specific departmental objectives and action plans within assigned areas of responsibility in support of overall corporate goals and objectives.
  • Participates in or leads performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities within assigned areas and across disciplines.
  • Participates in physician and advanced practice provider recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Provides consistent, positive leadership, acting as an informed decision-maker, capitalizing on opportunities and taking initiative in the furtherance of RHS/Hamot
  • Represents RHS/Hamot in local civic activities and in related regional and national affiliation functions
  • Serves as the prime motivator to assigned staff members and continually sets an example through responsiveness to employees and Medical Staff needs and the discharge of other corporate responsibilities.
  • This position typically reports to President, Regional Health Services


  • Bachelors Degree in Health Care, Business or a related field.
  • MBA preferred.
  • 4 years of combined management/supervisory and physician office experience required
  • PC proficiency
