Assist in managing diagnostic, therapeutic and counseling services to patients hearing loss.

  • Assists in promoting department clincial services.
  • Attends annual Hospital and departmental fire/safety and infection control training and maintains current knowledge of safety procedures within the Hospital and department.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, physicians and peers through oral and written communication
  • Develop strategic plans for respected clinical areas.
  • Develops and implements quality assurance activites for clincal services and initiates mechansims for measurement.
  • Ensure appropriate and high quality staffing through strategic placement of office coordinators etc.
  • Ensure compliance with all UPMC policies and procedures.
  • Improves and/or supports others in improving the health and well-being of all patients through excellence in patient care, teaching and research.
  • Maintains knowledge initiatives as they relates to the operation of the practice.
  • Mentors clinical staff and is responsible for managing clinical services.
  • Monitor practice operations to identify areas for improvement, expansion of services including patient safety and compliance.
  • Monitors patient and outpatient scheduling with support staff and clinical staff to insure optimal caseload based on use of space, time and need.
  • Oversees the recruitment of staff audiologists and speech pathologists
  • Performs performance reviews and assists in clinical staff annual reviews.
  • Responsbible for the day-to-day clinial adminstrative activites of audiology staff and Speech Language Pathologists
  • Review and evaluate the effectiveness of current departmental policies and procedures and plans with site coordinator and/or site clinical lead.
  • Serve as liaison for renovations, construction and building utilization with UPMC and outside construction services.
  • Serve as liaison to various UPMC departments and resources.
  • Supervises and oversee operating and capital budgets for respected clinical sites
  • Will provide clinical services within scope of license either Audiology or Speech Language Pathology


  • Master's degree in Speech/communications from an accredited school OR AuD degree in Audiology from an accredited school
  • Five (5) years experience (post clinical fellowship) in progressively responsible positions in communication disorders providing administrative coordination/oversight of staff

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
    Required NY License in Audiology, American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) Licensed Clinical Audiologist NYS Licensed Speech Language Pathologist, ASHA Certified
