UPMC Altoona Regional Health Services - Surgery Scheduler - Thoracic - Fulltime - Daylight

 

 

Purpose:
Coordinates and schedules appointments for surgeries and follow-up appointments for multiple physicians.

Responsibilities:

  • Check patients in and out after injections at the Station Medical Center and provide the patients with appropriate information.
  • Coordinate and schedule injections at Station Medical Center.
  • Coordinate and schedule surgeries, follow-up appointments as designated by physicians.
  • Coordinates arrangements for reps, special equipment and surgical materials. Organizes the next day's schedule and ensures that there are no physician or equipment conflicts.
  • Interact with patients, physicians and other staff both within the Clinic and at outside facilities providing accurate, timely and responsive information.
  • Maintains confidentiality in matters regarding the office, its patients and employees.
  • Obtain authorization for surgeries and other testing requiring authorization from the patient's insurance company.
  • Schedules any tests ordered by the physician.
  • Trains new employees.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of one year of medical office experience.
  • Experience with office equipment. Knowledge of how to use office equipment including phone, computer.
  • Knowledge of customer service concepts and techniques.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and use of ICD-9 and CPT code books.
  • Skill in exceptional customer service and phone etiquette.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Possesses interpersonal skills necessary to interact with people.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance
