UPMC Hamot, together with Regional Health Services, Inc. seeks a full-time Senior Manager of Prehospital Care to support our Prehospital Care Program. This position will be based in Erie, PA.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Emergency, Hospitalist and Critical Care Services, the Senior Manager of Prehospital Care and Emergency Management will be responsible for the daily operations of the UPMC Hamot/Regional Health Services EMS and Prehospital Care Program with oversight of designated medical command services.

As Senior Manager, you will also be responsible for developing and implementing the strategic business and marketing plan for the program, establishing and maintaining a quality assurance program for designated service lines, and evaluating the success and impact of these goals on EMS referrals to our businesses.

  • Ability to interact with high level officials to promote and execute a successful Prehospital Care program within UPMC Hamot and designated regional hospitals.
  • Assist in the review of situations arising from day-to-day operations within the system as they pertain to resolution of customer and/or patient issues.
  • Assist with the preparation and administration of the department budget.
  • Collaborate with STAT Med Evac, UPMC Prehospital Care, Center for Emergency Medicine and other PMC departments as requested.
  • Develop and implement a system evaluating the outcome of outreach activity and report results to senior leadership as requested.
  • Establish and evaluate performance of EMS related programs and staff.
  • Manage various promotional and outreach activities.
  • Mine, analyze, summarize and report on data trending related to Prehospital Care and EMS as requested by the Senior Director of Emergency, Hospitalist and Critical Care Services to evaluate the effectiveness of strategic EMS Business Plan.
  • Oversee medical command services for UPMC Hamot or designated regional business units.
  • Represent UPMC Hamot Prehospital Care at local, state and national venues as requested.
  • Supervise personnel in the Prehospital Care Program.


  • Bachelors Degree in related field -OR- five (5) years in a management position within EMS or healthcare related field is required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in a supervisory position in a healthcare related field required regardless of education level.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as an EMS Specialist or equivalent position required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in EMS, Critical Care or related field required. 
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience with outreach and marketing required. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Excellent organizational skills to work effectively with ancillary departments. 
  • Immediate to advanced computer skills including the ability to use word processing, computer database and spreadsheet software. 
  • Other certifications in pertinent specialty areas is preferable.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Pennsylvania Certified Paramedic -or- Pennsylvania Licensed Registered Nurse
  • Flight Paramedic Certified (FP-C) preferred.
  • Certified Medical Transport Executive (CMTE) preferred.
  • Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
  • Older Adult Protective Services Act
