UPMC Presbyterian seeks a full-time Director of Practice Management to support our South Hills Surgery Center, located in Bethel Park, PA.

As Director, you will have oversight of a team approximately 30 strong who are responsible for a variety of surgeries. The center can accommodate nearly any outpatient surgical procedure in the following specialties:
  • Dental surgery
  • Gastroenterology
  • General surgery
  • Gynecology
  • Ophthalmology
  • Orthopaedics
  • Otolaryngology
  • Pediatrics
  • Plastic surgery
  • Podiatry
  • Urology
Our Center provides 4 operating rooms, each equipped with state-of-the-art technology and the services of anesthesiologists, nurse anesthetists, registered nurses, radiologic technicians, and operating room technicians. We also provide
 preoperative patient care follow-up calls to assess patient satisfaction.

As Director, you will manage all operational aspects of the practice site to ensure quality patient care.

Responsibilities:
  • Analyze financial data for variances. Review with physicians and managers to develop methods for increasing revenue and reducing expenses.
  • Assist in physician relations as needed.
  • Coordinate and assist in the recruitment of staff and new practices which may include due diligence, practice valuations, contract negotiations, and staffing.
  • Coordinate new practice installations as well as divestitures.
  • Develop strategic plan for practices.
  • Ensure appropriate and high quality staffing of the practice through strategic placement of office coordinators, office managers, or practice managers.
  • Ensure that all revenue cycle benchmarks are met.
  • Establish and maintain good rapport and cooperative relationship with medical staff, co-workers, supervisors and others.
  • Exhibit integrity, courtesy, and respect for others.
  • Liaison for construction, renovation projects and building utilization. Assess existing needs and plan for new programs to meet the needs of the community.
  • Maintain a current and in-depth knowledge of resource based relative value scale and its impact in the operations of the practice.
  • Maintain confidentiality of hospital and department information with no infractions.
  • Maintain professional, pleasant and effective communications both internally and externally.
  • Monitor the practice's operating statistics and patterns to isolate trends and changes, thus ensure that the practice is maintaining its place and competitive edge, as well as identify new market areas.
  • Must be enrolled in a Bachelors in Nursing Degree program within one year of start in employment as a Unit Director and must complete the program and obtained degree within three years of enrollment. Failure to meet these requirements will lead to removal from Unit Director position.
  • Participate in development and execution of marketing strategies for the practices.
  • Participate in physician contract negotiations.
  • Present self in a positive manner reflected by personal attire and etiquette.
  • Promote the hospital's image and maintain a positive and helpful attitude toward employees, physicians, visitors, and the community to enhance the hospital's reputation as a health care center.
  • Promotion of excellent patient satisfaction to the patients and office staff.
  • Serve as liaison and conduit to various CMI and UPMCHS departments and resources.
  • Supervise and oversee the practice budgets.
  • Work as a team with administration, physicians and managers to determine the effectiveness of current procedures and plans, and develops and implements new systems for efficient and improved utilization of operations.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in business, health care administration, or a related area is required 
  • 5 years experience in management of a large physician practice with multiple offices.
  • RN preferred
  • Previous surgical experience strongly preferred
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
