UPMC Health Plan is hiring a full-time Health Coach Training & Quality Assurance Coordinator to help support the Clinical Training and Development Department for its downtown Pittsburgh location at the US Steel Tower. This is a Monday through Friday daylight position.

The Health Coach Training & Quality Assurance Coordinator will provide support to the Clinical Training and Development department in the areas of telephonic and on-site program delivery skills training and quality assurance monitoring for health coaches delivering lifestyle interventions and serving all lines of business. The Health Coach Training QA Coordinator will work closely with lifestyle health coach telephonic health coaching operations to ensure the quality of delivery for all health coaching interventions.


  • Assist in the maintenance and development of lifestyle health coach training materials (e.g. syllabi, manuals, power point presentations, role-play scenarios and other interactive learning experiences) as well as related member and provider materials
  • Conduct routine, random lifestyle health coach quality assurance review (QAR) call monitoring adjusting sampling rates based on experience and performance of individual health coaches and department metrics or contractual requirements
  • Develop and deliver skills building sessions to a team of on-site and telephonic health coaches; sessions include relevant and emerging topics, core competencies, and engagement skills
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of the theoretical and applied approaches to health coach training and lifestyle interventions
  • Manage tracking of QAR metrics and provide reporting of team benchmarks as well as individual health coach performance ratings for annual review
  • Provide mentoring and coaching for lifestyle coaches as requested or identified needs emerge.
  • Provide objective and subjective performance feedback to lifestyle health coaches via individual and group health coach mentoring and skill development sessions/activities
  • Provide training, quality assurance monitoring, and feedback to all lifestyle health coaches delivering UPMC MyHealth coaching programs and single session interventions
  • Special department projects as needed


  • Bachelors degree in psychology, health education, exercise physiology, counseling, social work, public health, nutrition, dietetics, nursing or a related field is required, Masters degree preferred.
  • 2 years lifestyle health coach, quality assurance, and/or training experience is required
  • Prior Health Coaching experience within a Health Insurance environment is preferred
  • Prior experience with developing and implementing training programs is highly preferred
  • Incumbent must have the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, quality-focused environment.
  • This position requires a strong background in behavior change science with a working knowledge of health behavior change theories and models (e.g. Transtheoretical Model and Motivational Interviewing).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Power Point and Excel is required.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
    National Board-Certified Health & Wellness Coach Certification eligible or required to obtain within 12 months of hire
