Description

The Laboratory of Neurocognitive Development, in the Department of Psychiatry, at UPMC, pursues research using multimodal neuroimaging to characterize neurocognitive developmental specialization during the adolescent transition from childhood to adulthood.
 
On-going studies focus on normative cognitive development as well as atypical development such as in schizophrenia and substance use. Current research focuses on the delineation of brain circuitry underlying higher-order cognition including networks for voluntary response suppression and spatial working memory. The research specialist will be responsible for daily interaction with research subject(s) on various on-going projects.

 


Responsibilities:

  • Independently perform the recruitment, scheduling, collection of consent forms and completion of phone or face to face interviews for subject participants.
  • Coordinate testing to include administration of cognitive research tools.
  • Assist with monitoring of data collection, management, and analysis, and act as a liaison between the PI and other departmental collaborators interested the on-going research project(s).
  • Collaborate with senior research personnel regarding recruitment, data collection, outcomes of interviews, reports according to the needs of the study.
     
 

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required, preferably in psychology, neuroscience, sociology or related research field.
  • Minimum of one year of work experience in a research project and/or related clinical setting is required.
  • Experience working with teenage participants preferred.
  • Familiarity with fMRI a plus.
  • Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and organization required.

  • Act 31 Clearance
  • Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
