The Concierge welcomes, assists and directs patients, visitors, guests and vendors to appropriate areas of the hospital.  The position is flex full time and would be working 28 to 34 hours a week.  This role is Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities:
  • Actively care for presentation of lobby areas.
  • Adapt to changing conditions in a calm, productive and flexible manner.
  • Anticipate and respond in timely fashion to customer needs, while presenting a positive image of the hospital.
  • Apply technical skills and knowledge in a focused, in depth specialty area.
  • Arrange accommodations based on guest need.
  • Canvass local retailers for their willingness to participate with UPMC Passavant and UPMC Passavant Cranberry in the Employee Perk program.
  • Check on details to create pleasant environment for visitors and patients such as: piano playing.
  • Communicate by using active listening skills, appropriate nonverbal, oral and written communication.
  • Communicate in a clear, cooperative and specific manner.
  • Communicate in a warm, courteous manner.
  • Create daily Schedule of Events for meeting rooms.
  • Demonstrate and maintain the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate level of care to the ages of customers serviced including principles of growth and development.
  • Demonstrate teamwork by interacting with others to achieve goals while respecting individual differences, sharing credit and accountability for outcomes, and encouraging, supporting, and actively participating in work activities.
  • Demonstrate the ability to solve problems through process analysis, communication and innovative thinking to obtain optimum results.
  • Direct volunteers to meet needs of customers.
  • Exhibit positive interpersonal skills, i.e. professionalism, integrity, follow-up on commitments, respecting the viewpoints of others and accepting and supporting change.
  • Follow dress code and exhibit excellence in professional appearance.
  • Initiate response from support departments to keep areas clean.
  • Keep areas neat and tidy.
  • Know fire, disaster and safety procedures and regulations as pertains to the work area.
  • Know the services and products UPMC Passavant Hospital offers.
  • Make decisions with the customer/guest in mind.
  • Manage dry cleaning process for receiving clothing, delivery of clothing, and payment to the vendor.
  • Manage postage stamp sales and inventory.
  • Manage workload efficiently.
  • Perform Personal services such as Hairdresser/Manicurist appointments.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Perform duties of concierge desk to met needs of patients, visitors, family members, and employees.
  • Prioritize and expedite patients to appropriate areas for treatment.
  • Proactively greet each patient/customer as they enter the facility, determining the reason for visit.
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled.
  • Respond to all emergencies on the job and follows up with appropriate actions.
  • Seek and accept additional responsibilities as the needs arise.
  • Smile and Greet everyone with whom you come in contact.
  • Take ownership of all issues and see each one of them through to a resolution.
  • Treat all customers with care, courtesy respect and concern.
  • When problems occur, take appropriate steps to resolve the problem to the customer's satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent experience required. 
  • Computer knowledge to access patient information and internet information. 
  • Hospital experience preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance
