Performs a variety of duties in and around the grounds of the Hospital complex.

  • Completes work tickets with the appropriate information.
  • Cuts, trims, prunes, cultivates, fertilizes and cares for grass, flowers, shrubs and trees.
  • Demonstrates safe work habits.
  • Maintains equipment in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Operates Hospital tractors and garden equipment.
  • Reports all equipment failures/breakdowns as soon as it occurs.
  • Responsible for following the mandatory reporting procedures for any incident or serious event that did affect or potentially could have affected the clinical care of any patient.


  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • One to two years experience preferred. 
  • Ability to understand and comply with oral and written instructions.
  • Physical ability to be standing for prolonged periods and push, carry or haul a variety of large objects, i.e., carts, ladders, building materials, etc.
  • Ability to perform a variety of activities according to specific assignments.
  • Ability to use tools necessary for gardening duties. 
  • Ability to determine arrangements and positioning of garden planting. 
  • Ability to use mowers, tractors and other power and hand tools related to performing duties. 
  • Ability to resolve routine problems and refer difficult or unusual problems to the Assistant Director. 
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate and cooperate with various levels of hospital personnel, physicians and patients to complete work in occupied areas in a tactful and courteous manner. 

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance
  • Driver's License
