This senior level research position will provide management, direction, and supervision to the department. The research focus of the department is brain changes in normal aging.

  • Collaborate in developing proposals for research projects.
  • Collaborate in writing research findings for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Collaborate on manuscript preparation and grant application process.
  • Communicate and maintain positive relations with foundation donors.
  • Communicate regularly with internal and external members to update progress on projects and develop reports as needed.
  • Develop relationships in underserved communities with hospitals, community-based clinics and primary care offices, and other community based organizations and groups to support the goals of the research projects.
  • Maintain a laboratory notebook.
  • Manage team members (faculty and staff) to hit key millstones at 3-month intervals.
  • Perform database entry and organization.
  • Perform quantitative proteomic assays.
  • Prepare and conduct presentations to community groups, social service agencies, health care centers and hospitals as needed.
  • Prepare and present written and oral progress reports.
  • Present preliminary findings at seminars and more developed findings to relevant national conferences.
  • Responsible for IRB submissions on program grants and projects.
  • Responsible for budget accounting on newly funded grants, financial statements and reports to funder.
  • Responsible for hiring and training new staff employed by the projects.
  • Responsible for processing NIMH, NIH and foundation grant submissions on all program grants and projects.
  • Supervise and train staff within department.
  • Train and supervise staff on research projects; conduct annual employee performance reviews.
  • Travel to manufacture locations, external-labs, and conferences to keep pace with new developments in proteomics.


  • Masters degree in Psychology, Health Sciences with 6 years of research experience OR
  • PhD in Psychology, Health Sciences or related field and at least 2 years experience.
  • Experience working with related population required.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Prior supervisory and training experience required.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance
