Description

Purpose:
The Evaluator Clinician I will provide an assessment of patients and families in collaboration with attending clinicians and other staff within a psychiatric service. Develop initial treatment plan in order to facilitate disposition planning. Ability to identify acuity level of patients. Provide patient care, not limited to the delivery of patient care. Facilitate the flow of information to promote effective communication regarding the patient care and patient operations.

Responsibilities:
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently in emergency setting.
  • Assist in maintaining safe environment.
  • Complete assigned projects, reports and statistics in a timely manner.
  • Complete patient/family assessments referred to emergency services for presentation to the attending clinician.
  • Demonstrate ability to utilize DSMs and to develop provisional diagnosis. Demonstrate knowledge of mental health laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of inclusion criteria/protocols for current research programs.
  • Knowledge of insurance programs, processes and able to obtain authorizations as needed. Knowledge of community resources to facilitate appropriate dispositions.
  • Learn and utilize up-to-date technology in delivery of patient care.
  • Manage crisis situations effectively using positive approaches.
  • Meet standards for documentation and completes all required paperwork.
  • Obtain appropriate consents or commitment authorizations as needed.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary activities such as staff meetings and other committees as assigned.
  • Participate with unit management in Program Development and Performance Improvement Activities.
  • Serve as mentor to students and new employees.
  • maintain competency requirements. Complete all required DDAP training during probation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field with a minimum of two (2) years in a clinical psychiatric setting OR
  • Master's degree in Human Services preferred.
  • Complete all relevant Department of Drug and Alcohol training programs.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of substance use related to the laws and regulations.
  • Ability to respond calmly and effectively, using good clinical judgment to both psychiatric and medical emergencies.
  • Ability to identify problems, implement resolution, reassesses situation/problem.
  • Excellent interpersonal relations with the ability to interact in a direct, professional, tactful, gracious manner with all professional/non-professional contacts; includes all areas of verbal/non-verbal communication within the contest of direct/non-direct contact; history of excellent interpersonal relations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to work under stress, with an unpredictable patient flow, in a sometimes crowded work environment.
  • A personal disposition that is warm, friendly, caring, kind and hospitable towards patients, colleagues.
  • Exhibit openness and willingness to learn.
  • History/track record of all above services consistently delivered with a service excellent attitude.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a managed care environment.
  • Excellent ability and history of direct, gracious, courteous, kind face-to-face, telephone and nonverbal skills.
  • May in the course of their job duties be in rooms where medications are stored. No contact with medications is allowed.

 

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Act 126 Child Abuse Reporting or Act 31 Clearance
  • Act 31 Clearance
  • Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
  • Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training - ASIST certification to be obtained within 6 months of hire or transfer date
  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
  • Driver's License
