UPMC Horizon is currently hiring a full-time Quality Manager to support our Quality Improvement team at both our Greenville and Shenango Valley (Farrell), PA campuses. As the Quality Manager you will be responsible for the day to day oversight of our quality analyst, quality nurse coordinator, patient experience manager, and patient relations representative. You also be responsible for managing and performing functions related to operations in the Quality department as well as facilitating and managing new and ongoing projects it the Quality area.

This position will require you to work primarily daylight hours (40 hours per week). However, some evening hours may be required on a sporadic basis.

  • Actively participates in the development and management of the department budget.
  • Acts as the lead in absence of the director.
  • Applies best practice knowledge to improvement efforts.
  • Assigns quality department support personnel for quality activities.
  • Demonstrates expertise in PI/CQI and with methods such as lean, Toyota and/or Six Sigma.
  • Demonstrates expertise in regulatory/state/federal requirements for reporting.
  • Demonstrates strong project management skills by prioritizing and balancing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Direct supervision of staff or large scale initiatives and or projects.
  • Exhibits knowledge of the fiscal implications of quality outcomes.
  • Leads and engages teams across the organization and interact with all levels of executives.
  • Leads change and provide oversight of project management.
  • Manages resources to support quality monitoring and performance improvement activities.
  • Partners with hospital leaders to implement change.
  • Presents materials related to quality and performance improvement.
  • Strategizes and carries forward quality and performance improvement agenda.
  • Uses measurement and analytics skills to identify areas of improvement.


Bachelors degree in relevant field required
Masters degree or UPMC approved certification required
Minimum of 7 years related healthcare experience required
Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers,, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, patients/families.
Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple changing priorities and specialized equipment.
Exemplary critical thinking, analytical and problem solving abilities required as related to various aspects of patient care.
Demonstrates a progressive leadership track.
Skilled in Microsoft office and other data applications.
Mobility and visual manual dexterity.
Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing and lifting.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance
  • National Certification Preferred
