About the Program
Are you a current nursing student and interested in seeing what being a nurse is really like? UPMC’s Student Nurse Internship (SNI) program is a 10-week paid summer internship; this year the program begins in mid-May and ends on July 26th. SNIs have an opportunity to work directly with a trained preceptor… 1-on1! In addition to providing direct patient care, supplementary educational sessions provide the opportunity for the Student Nurse Intern to build relationships and learn about their profession. SNIs can work up to 40 hours per week and follow the schedule of their preceptor.
SNIs interested in our Senior Communities opportunity will join our team of exceptional individuals who truly make a difference in the lives of seniors by providing exceptional resident care for patients and their families, while having the opportunity to build lasting relationships in facilities centered around family-like care. Whether you enjoy working in independent living, personal and assisted living, skilled nursing and rehabilitation, or memory care, UPMC Senior Communities offers career options in all areas! Residents of UPMC Senior Communities can be assured that the home they choose is backed by a world-class, Pittsburgh-based health resource whose focus is improving and enriching the lives of residents and their families.
During the Program, SNIs agree to complete an essay about their experience, a post-program evaluation survey, and make every effort to attend Mid-Summer and End of Summer Events. For internal candidates, please note that this is a temporary position and transferring into a temporary position may affect your current employment benefits.
