The UPMC Center for High-Value Health Care (the Center) is a non-profit research organization, housed within the UPMC Insurance Services Division (ISD), which promotes innovation, learning, and dissemination to improve health care service delivery and outcomes for our members, the communities we serve, and nation at large. An important part of our work is to ensure that findings can be rapidly translated into improved practice and policy and UPMC is recognized as a thought leader on major issues impacting the health care industry.

Reporting to the Chief Research and Translation Officer of the Center and the ISD, the Sr. Advisor, Research Communications and Content Strategy is responsible for coordinating and executing a dynamic thought leadership agenda through and with the Chief Medical Officer of the ISD, the Center, and the UPMC ISD Marketing Department. Working in collaboration with leaders and staff from across the Division, the Sr. Advisor will enhance content publishing, content marketing, and stakeholder communications by creating content assets that provide a strong framework for dissemination to multiple audiences, including employer groups, providers, consumers, and policymakers, and optimizing these assets for reuse by multiple departments within UPMC ISD and its business units.


Responsibilities:

  • Develops and manages user-centric reusable core written content to be included in journal articles, social media platforms, sales collateral, blog posts, infographics, video and more for consumers, business decision makers, clinical communities, media/analysts, local and national health care professionals and researchers, and other health care stakeholders while adhering to process and corporate style guidelines.
  • Partners with Marketing to ensure that all assets are adherent to brand standards (e.g. writing, creative and positioning)
  • Assists UPMC Health Plan marketing team to codify and store content in an accessible digital asset library management system.
  • Provides guidance and support for core content development processes.
  • Leads content strategy projects to improve content usability and work efficiencies for all audiences.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact in thought leadership discussions and creative ideation with other functions such as pharmacy, network, clinical, sales, product and marketing teams.
  • Coordinates with Subject Matter Experts, marketing, product and sales departments to ensure that core content is ready for distribution, translation, layout, and product releases.
  • Works with the Marketing & Public Relations teams to coordinate effective creative and brand management, distribution strategies and metrics.
  • Ensures consistent core content strategies and implementation across brands.
  • Responsible for arranging proofreading/editing, and review for all thought leadership content development deliverables from initial conception to final release.
  • Monitors and adheres to design control/quality records requirements. Develops design control milestones and measures
  • Ability to lead Center/thought leadership writing projects as needed.

    Position Specific Responsibilities:
  • Strategy Development and Planning (includes data, audience segmentation and market intel)
  • Editorial Planning – in-house, as well as trade/business publications
  • Digital Marketing – social media, blogs, videos and podcasts
  • Public Relations – experience working with journalists and media outlets at a national level, as well as identifying speaking engagements
  • Technology Management
  • Collaboration & Coordination – experience in matrixed organization facilitating written and verbal reviews and approvals

 


Qualifications

  • MA in health care financing and organization, health policy, or health economics and 5 years of experience designing, implementing, and/or testing alternative health care payment models in a health care payer, health system, government, or research setting OR PhD in health care financing and organization, health policy, or health economics and 2 years of experience designing, implementing, and/or testing alternative health care payment models in a health care payer, health system, government, or research setting.
  • Familiarity with national trends toward alternative health care payment models, including medical home payment methodologies, episode or bundled payments, accountable care arrangements, and shared savings and gain sharing programs.
  • Knowledge of core payment model components, such as beneficiary attribution, financial modeling, benchmarking, quality and performance measurement, risk adjustment, and information technology infrastructure required to support implementation.
  • Experience with applying value-based payment models in the context of an open, integrated health care delivery and financing system preferred.
  • Person must demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, enthusiasm, and imitative on a daily basis.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Strong organizational, communication, and writing skills
  • Ability to accommodate a high volume of work, manage competing demands, set appropriate priorities, and effectively meet multiple deadlines.
  • Proven track record of leadership and interpersonal skills
