Performs a variety of plumbing, construction, repair, and maintenance services in and around the buildings of the hospital complex. Routinely trouble shoots and repairs problems with buildings plumbing and steam heating systems. Responsible for documentation of work orders and scheduled maintenance as it pertains to Life Safety and other regulatory agencies.

  • Accurately requisitions materials, maintains files and records. Records time and material expended.
  • Assists other trades as appropriate or assigned by management.
  • Maintain a clean safe work environment, including storage and shop areas.
  • Maintains, tests, and repairs all life safety systems. IE sprinkler tests, eye wash, and emergency showers.
  • Maintains, tests, repairs existing piping systems, drain, waste and vent systems, potable waters systems, steam, and medical gas delivery systems.
  • Removes snow and ice.
  • Responsible for timely completion of work orders, Preventative Maintenance, Logs, Performance testing and other documentation.


  • High school diploma in Trade or Vocational School degree plus four years apprenticeship. 
  • Three years of experience in a related field required.  
  • Plumbers license required.  
  • Valid Pennsylvania drivers license required.  
  • May in the course of their duties be in rooms where medications are stored. No contact with medications is allowed.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Back flow certification, and Med Gas Certification preferred.
  • Act 31 Clearance
  • Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
  • Driver's License
