Assist the Facilities Planning Director with tasks pertaining to capital space and construction project requests for the UPMC hospital campuses, as well as other corporate initiatives and supporting documentation.

  • Assess current facilities and field verifies floor plans with accurate documentation of configuration and room information.
  • Collaborate and support the Planning Director to develop feasibility studies and alternate design solutions.
  • Develop a written Scope of Work documents, programs, plans, room data sheets to meet the user group needs to understand the project as well as provide a strong understanding of the project for estimating the conceptual design.
  • Develop and document conceptual projects from inception through capital approval and work with construction team to develop budgets, schedules and approvals.
  • Independently perform special projects as assigned.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the existing facilities and the utilization of space within each building.
  • Presents projects and performance.
  • Update AutoCAD background drawings for hospitals and other campus buildings.


  • Bachelors degree in Architecture, Interior Design or related field required. 
  • Minimum three years of planning experience.  
  • In lieu of Bachelors degree, would require a minimum of seven years of planning experience.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Act 31 Clearance
  • Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
