Purpose:


Under the direction of the Senior Manager, Business Systems Support, this role will assume responsibility for planning, coordination and control of the efforts of an assigned business unit in the development, maintenance, support, and enhancement of business systems to meet the needs of the UPMC Health Plan.

Responsibilities:

  • Accept direct responsibility for delivery of projects/requests and the performance of team to meet commitments to clients.
  • Assessment of the needs, related to staffing, programs, equipment, productivity aids and other resources for the particular set of applications for which the team is responsible, and development of annual and long-range operating plans, which address those needs.
  • Assist Director/Senior Manager in developing application-related operating and capital budget projections and assessing impact of those projections upon team objectives.
  • Assist with recruitment, selection, training and maintenance of a competent staff to perform application systems selection, development, maintenance and enhancement.
  • Manage the creation, prioritization, and assignment of project requests using a Change Control system.
  • Perform related tasks as assigned by the Director/Senior Manager. Serve as leader in their absence, upon his/her request.
  • Plan, control and manage all aspects of system implementation and maintenance, including releases, patches, and fixes and interacts with the vendor on problems that may arise during the course of the implementation and/or support.
  • Protect the integrity and confidentiality of all data and information through physical and/or electronic means.
  • Provide management with activity summaries by reviewing cost and benefits of enhancements, deletions, and modifications.
  • Provide on-call (non-business hours) support at established times in accordance with UPMC policies and procedures.
  • Recommend to the Director/Senior Manager, Technology Management, and clients all application/system changes/enhancements or additions that will help to meet the needs of the clients of those applications.
  • Responsible for total mastery of assigned application systems at both table/profile and functional levels
  • Review the status of each project/change request on a regular basis and generate status reports for client review groups and requesters of projects to insure that they are aware of project statuses.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree with an analytical or healthcare focus.
  • Equivalent experience will be considered 5 years of experience in a lead analyst or supervisory role in a health care setting.
  • Advanced knowledge of production application and operations support, including system design, configuration, and implementation.
  • Expertise of production business application systems and operations support, including system design, configuration, and implementation.
  • Possess industry knowledge and standards of system development methodologies and project management tools.
  • Extensive problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate well, both orally and in written form.
  • Proven project management expertise required.


Salary Range: $33.94 to $57.47
