Support the Food Service Supervisor in all aspects of the daily operation, with emphasis on the training and development of food service associates.

  • Conduct and document service recovery on all customer complaints as per operational guidelines.
  • MWH Educational/Knowledge Requirements: Associates degree in Specialialized Technology (Culinary Degee) or at least two years of cooking experience in a ful-service hospital, restaurant or other food service establishments. Must be 18 years of age. Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to perform job tasks in a professional manner as well as effectively deal with internal and external customers. MWH Responsibilities Required: Keep Lead Cook informed of product shortages or problems affecting daily preparation. Function as a Lead Cook when assigned. Completes food and beverage orders as assigned by the Chef and Lead Cook. Manages the Department (assigned as Lead Cook) until a scheduled Manager arrives. Follows clean as you go policy.
  • Monitor all aspects of the department's food safety program routinely and take immediate and appropriate action to identified hazards.
  • Monitor all aspects of the operation's sanitation program on a daily basis to ensure inspection readiness at all times.
  • Monitor food quantity and quality to ensure appropriate product is available for meal service according to menu and special requests.
  • Orient, train, and coach new team members as per department guidelines.
  • Oversee security of inventory and cash revenues.
  • Perform routine competency checks on associate performance with appropriate follow-through.
  • Supervise hourly associates and their adherence to all UPMC policies and procedures and department standards and guidelines.
  • Supervise services according to department standards and complete quality control and quality assurance checks to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.


  • HS Diploma/GED preferred
  • 2 years relevant experience required
  • Previous customer and/or food service experience highly preferred
  • Ability to handle high volume preparation and catering
  • Culinary degree preferredĀ 

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Obtain Servsafe or Professional Food Safety Manager Certification (ACHD) or Allegheny County Health Dept within 6 months of hire date.
