This position will be a pharmacist that supports the Cerner inpatient application and will be responsible for system related build, maintenance, support, and projects related to electronic medical record.  A few example of the maintenance responsibilities include upkeep of hospital formularies within application, build of new drugs in alignment with P&T recommendations, maintenance/build of order sets for provider ordering, code testing and upgrades, analyzing system optimizations.  Some of the current projects include the electronic record conversion of acquired facilities (UPMC Chautauqua and UPMC Susquehanna), electronic prescribing of controlled substances, and VTE Advisor.


Purpose:

Develop system requirements, build and maintain applications/systems, and support Pharmacy's goals and business plan through automation and information.

Responsibilities:
  • Assure quality of information through testing.
  • Design and document system functional requirements for use in such deliverables as Request for Proposals, customization, scope documents.
  • Evaluate and document Pharmacy/UPMC needs both operational and financial which includes current process analysis and proposals for revisions to optimize business.
  • Provide ongoing troubleshooting, support, and maintenance of production applications which includes 24/7 on call coverage.
  • Review and maintain formularies as required.
  • Support pharmacist and supportive personnel educational development.
  • Work with outside departments and vendors to evaluate, develop and implement solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or PharmD from an accredited school of pharmacy. 
  • Three years of hospital pharmacy experience with advanced clinical judgement and skills. 
  • Previous experience with pharmacy informatics procedures and pharmacy information systems/applications is preferred. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate (both written and oral communication)

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance
  • Pharmacist
