Description

Under general direction, strategize, develop, and implement communication projects to educate and inform patients and visitors to UPMC. Direct communication strategies for internal and external audiences in assigned area.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates with pertinent scientific and professional organizations to promote assigned areas.
  • Develop and implement targeted communication strategies to support the organization's enterprise-wide objectives.
  • Develop methods to evaluate communications projects based on effectiveness and cost/benefits, and document the results.
  • Edit and/or write copy for publications, letters, advertisements, audio/visual presentations, speeches and other communication programs.
  • Implement communication plans for programs by managing multi-faceted projects.
  • Independently advise internal clients.
  • Manage the research, writing, design and production of any materials.
  • Monitor project budgets; handle approvals and other client relations and take responsibility for accuracy and effectiveness of information communicated.
  • Prepare strategies to achieve communication goals.
  • Serve as a communications counselor (consultant) to internal UPMC clients.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in other departments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or a related field required. MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Marketing or Communications required.
  • Project Management experience required.
  • Experience providing clients with strategic marketing counsel required.
  • Agency experience a plus.
  • Experience in an academic medical center, hospital or health care industry is preferred.
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Ability to translate scientific/medical information to a lay persons understanding required.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
